We want YOU to
tell us what Sandpoint should be like in 20 years! |
|
|
Sandpoint has
grown dramatically in recent years, with equally dramatic
changes in terms of transportation, housing, and civic
infrastructure. Additional factors have pushed middle and
lower-income families to the outskirts or to neighboring
towns, increasing traffic and changing Sandpoint’s
character.
Issues like these
have caused the City to commission a complete overhaul of its
current comprehensive plan, a document first adopted in 1977. The
plan will address a 20-year horizon, and will guide policies related
to land use, transportation, natural resources, housing, and more.
The process will be led by the City and planning consultant Studio
Cascade, Inc., of Spokane.

The
City Council considered the Draft Comprehensive Plan, as
forwarded to them by the Planning Commission, at a public
hearing on June 12,
2008. They are in the process of deliberating the
document in workshop sessions. These workshops are
open to the public. |
